The Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University participated in the FJCAI 2026 National Conference on Artificial Intelligence.

In the context of artificial intelligence (AI) becoming one of the core technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, building academic forums to connect, share knowledge, and promote research collaboration is extremely necessary.
Overview of the FJCAI 2026 Conference
The FJCAI 2026 (The First Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence) national scientific conference was established in this context, aiming to become a prestigious academic platform bringing together the AI research and application community in Vietnam.
Held at Can Tho University, FJCAI 2026 is the first conference in the FJCAI series, marking an important beginning in the formation of a specialized academic ecosystem on artificial intelligence. The conference attracted hundreds of scientists, lecturers, researchers, graduate students, and representatives from technology companies from many universities, research institutes, and organizations nationwide.
FJCAI 2026 is not just a platform for publishing research results; it is also envisioned as a bridge connecting the three key pillars of the AI ecosystem: academia, research, and business. Through this, scientific works will not only possess theoretical value but also have the potential for transfer and application in practice, contributing to solving problems in daily life and production.

Scale, Content, and Academic Orientation of the Conference
FJCAI 2026 is considered one of the largest and highest-quality conferences in the field of artificial intelligence in Vietnam. The conference received nearly 200 scientific papers from authors nationwide, with papers carefully selected through a rigorous peer review process before being accepted for presentation.
The research directions at the conference were diverse, reflecting a comprehensive picture of modern AI, including:
Machine Learning and Deep Learning
Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Computer Vision
Multimodal Artificial Intelligence (Multimodal AI)
Generative AI
Applications of AI in healthcare, education, economics, and society
In particular, the trends in multimodal AI and generative AI received significant attention, demonstrating a strong shift from single-factor models to intelligent systems capable of processing and combining various types of data.
Besides academic presentations, the conference also served as a venue for professional exchanges, thematic discussions, and collaborative networking between researchers and businesses. This is a crucial factor in bridging the gap between research and application, while also laying the groundwork for highly practical AI products.
The Role of FJCAI in Developing the AI Ecosystem in Vietnam
In the national technology development strategy, artificial intelligence is identified as one of the top priority areas. However, for AI to develop sustainably, close coordination among components in the ecosystem is necessary, from training and research to application deployment.
FJCAI 2026 plays a vital role as a catalyst in this process. Through the conference, universities and research institutes have the opportunity to showcase new research results, while businesses can access advanced technological solutions for practical application. At the same time, the conference also provides opportunities for young scientists, researchers, and students to access new technological trends, thereby guiding their research and development to meet the needs of society.
The formation and maintenance of conferences like FJCAI not only contribute to improving the quality of domestic research but also promote international integration, gradually bringing the Vietnamese AI community closer to global scientific standards.
Participation of the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University
In its orientation towards developing scientific research linked to training and practical application, the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University always encourages and creates conditions for lecturers, students, and doctoral candidates to participate in in-depth academic activities.
At FJCAI 2026, the Faculty had two doctoral candidates participating in presentations: Dr. Do Hoang Nam and Dr. Pham Dinh Tai. Having their papers accepted at the conference is the result of serious, systematic research and meticulous investment in scientific activities by these doctoral candidates.

Detailed Introduction to the ViMACSA-GAT Project
The research project titled “ViMACSA-GAT: A Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Model for Vietnamese Based on Graph Attention Networks and Intermodal Unifiers,” in the field of Language Technology and Vietnamese Language Processing, is a notable contribution to the research direction of multimodal AI.
Multimodal sentiment analysis is a problem that requires a system capable of understanding and synthesizing information from multiple data sources, including text, images, and audio. In reality, human emotions are often expressed not only through language but also through facial expressions, voice, and other non-verbal signals. Therefore, combining multiple data methods significantly improves the accuracy of the analysis system.
In this study, the authors proposed the ViMACSA-GAT model with two core components. Firstly, the Graph Attention Network allows the model to learn relationships between data components flexibly and efficiently. Secondly, the cross-modal fusion mechanism helps integrate information from multiple sources into a unified representation.
Thanks to this combination, the model is capable of:
Better understanding the context and meaning of the data
Effectively exploiting relationships between methods
Improving the accuracy of sentiment analysis
In particular, applying the model to Vietnamese has high practical significance, contributing to overcoming limitations in resources and methods in Vietnamese natural language processing. The work opens up many potential application directions in social network data analysis systems, decision support, customer care, and the development of intelligent AI systems.
Significance and Future Development Directions
Participating in and presenting research at FJCAI 2026 has contributed to affirming the scientific research capacity and integration spirit of the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University. This is an important foundation for the Faculty to continue promoting research activities in the future.
In its long-term development direction, the Faculty will continue to:
Encourage scientific research among undergraduate and graduate students; Support doctoral students in publishing high-quality works; Build specialized research groups on artificial intelligence and data science; Strengthen cooperation with domestic and international organizations and businesses.
Through these efforts, the Faculty aims to train high-quality human resources to meet the development needs of society in the digital age, while also making a positive contribution to the development of the artificial intelligence field in Vietnam.
The FJCAI 2026 conference is not only an academic event but also a significant milestone in connecting and developing the artificial intelligence community in Vietnam. The participation of graduate students from the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University at the conference is clear evidence of the strong development of scientific research activities in the university, and affirms the Faculty’s role in contributing to the overall development of the AI field in the country.
