Scientific workshop – developing a Computer Science curriculum based on DACUM

On the afternoon of February 5th, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM in Room L906, An Phu Dong Campus, the Faculty of Information Technology (IT) – Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized a scientific workshop on developing a Computer Science curriculum based on DACUM. The workshop was an important professional activity, attracting a large number of participants including business representatives, IT experts, alumni, and faculty members of the IT Department, demonstrating the deep interest of all parties in training high-quality human resources.
The DACUM workshop aimed to clearly define the professional tasks, skills, and core competencies that Computer Science students need to achieve upon graduation, thereby effectively meeting the practical demands of the labor market in the context of rapid digital transformation. Through this scientific forum, the Faculty of Information Technology aims to strengthen the close connection between the university, businesses, experts, and alumni, creating conditions for all parties to participate in reviewing, updating, and improving the training program towards an application-oriented approach. The DACUM methodology plays a crucial role in standardizing learning outcomes, improving training quality, and increasing the career adaptability of Computer Science students.
In the opening remarks of the workshop, the representative of the Organizing Committee extended a warm welcome and expressed deep gratitude to the esteemed business representatives, faculty members, experts, and alumni for dedicating their valuable time to attend the program. Their presence is not only a great honor for the Faculty of Information Technology but also demonstrates their practical support and concern for the training and development of information technology human resources at the university. Representatives of the Organizing Committee emphasized that Nguyen Tat Thanh University is an application-oriented higher education institution, with a consistent training philosophy of “Learning by Doing – Practicing – Earning a Real Title – Real Career,” always focusing on connecting training with practice, and linking teaching and research with the needs of businesses and society, through training programs that are competency-based and aligned with domestic and international professional standards.
The workshop was honored to welcome the participation of more than 30 businesses currently cooperating and collaborating with the Faculty of Information Technology, more than 20 alumni currently working in technology companies, along with leaders and lecturers of the Faculty of Information Technology, including: Dr. Nguyen Kim Quoc – Head of the Faculty of Information Technology; Dr. Cao Van Kien – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology; Mr. Vuong Xuan Chi – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology and more than 30 lecturers of the Faculty.

At the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Kim Quoc – Head of the Faculty of Information Technology – delivered a keynote speech, emphasizing the crucial role of developing training programs based on the practical needs of society and businesses, especially in the context of rapidly developing technology and increasingly high demands on IT human resources, not only in terms of expertise but also in skills and professional attitudes. He affirmed that feedback from businesses and alumni is an important basis for the Faculty to review, adjust, and improve the training program, thereby enhancing the quality of training and the competitiveness of students after graduation.
Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee screened a video introducing the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University, a unit that trains and conducts research with a research-oriented approach linked to application, meeting the demand for high-quality human resources in the field of digital technology. The Faculty currently offers cutting-edge programs such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, and Information Technology, with curricula built on competency standards, closely linking theory and practice, and connecting the university with businesses. Experienced faculty, modern facilities, and a dynamic learning environment have contributed to improving the quality of education and scientific research.

Following the program, Dr. Cao Van Kien – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology – presented an overview of the Computer Science training program. The program is built upon the needs of societal development, adopting a competency-based approach and meeting the practical demands of the labor market in the context of digital transformation. The training content focuses on fundamental and specialized areas such as algorithms, computer networks, artificial intelligence, and data science, while also strengthening practical modules, projects, and business engagement activities to enhance students’ professional skills.

The discussion session of the workshop, moderated by Mr. Vuong Xuan Chi, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Information Technology, was lively and effective. Representatives from businesses and alumni shared many opinions and practical experiences, and proposed solutions to improve the training program to better meet the actual requirements of businesses. The opinions focused on updating new technologies, increasing practical training time, developing soft skills, teamwork skills, and enhancing students’ adaptability in a professional work environment.

At the end of the program, the Organizing Committee distributed survey forms to gather further feedback from delegates and alumni. This feedback will be compiled, analyzed, and used as an important basis for improving the Computer Science training program in the future. The DACUM conference was a great success, affirming the determination of the Faculty of Information Technology – Nguyen Tat Thanh University to continuously improve the quality of training, meet societal needs, and train high-quality information technology human resources for the country.
